2025/26 - Come Join Me at Bear Mountain for Private Lessons!

 

A Little About Me:

  • Ski Instructor since 1983.

  • Skier for 54 yrs, learned to ski in the German & Austrian Alps (I was 8!)

  • I teach all levels, from beginners to advanced.

  • I specialize in teaching 8+ to 70+ year olds.  Sorry, I am not an expert at teaching children.  I suggest you request another instructor for small kids, Big Bear Mountain Resort (BBMR) has many great children's instructors!

  • I teach at Bear Mountain Ski Resort, Big Bear Lake, CA.  I can also teach at Snow Summit if you prefer, but I believe Bear is better for lessons.​

  • The 3 main things you will do in a lesson with me: 1) Be safe and confident, 2) Have Fun!, 3) Learn or progress your skiing to a new level!

Lessons Available:

  • Private 3 or 6 hr lessons (up to 5 students), 9 am to 12 and 1 to 4 pm.

  • I am only available certain days: 2025/26 - Dec 26-31, Jan 17-19, and Feb 14-20.  If you are skiing other days, please request a different instructor.

  • IMPORTANT - private lessons fill up very quickly!  Please consider reserving early.

  • Choose your date (Dec 26-31, Jan 17-19, or Feb 14-20) and reserve your time.  IMPORTANT - to reserve me specifically, you need to type in "Request Steve Pruitt as Ski Instructor" in the Private Lesson Request box.​​​​​​​​​​​​​​

  • To check if I am available for a date/time, please use SignUpGenius HERE and also type in your name so that I can expect you.  NOTE: SignUpGenius DOES NOT reserve your lesson with BBMR!  You must reserve and pay with BBMR.​​

FAQs

  • Can I hire you direct?

    • No.  I am employee of Big Bear Mountain Resort - BBMR.  It is important to only hire a certified instructor from the resort as they have the national forest lease, liability insurance, direct communication with ski patrol & ski school and require CA mandatory employee training, etc.  Your safety is important!

  • Do I pay you or the resort?

    • ​You will reserve and pay BBMR (bigbearmountainresort.com).  Tips to instuctors are direct.

  • Do we get to skip lift lines while in the lesson?

    • Yes!  We want to maximize your on snow learning time!​

  • Do you teach alpine freestyle, race, aerial or snowboard?

    • Sorry no, I am am an extreme, bumps & double black diamond level skier, but I like to keep my skis mainly on the snow - and I leave the snowboard instruction to those much better than me!
